I was invited to interview Raveena Tandon ma’am for JioTalks at RCP, Mumbai as an event emcee, with a hall already humming before doors. The brief was simple: keep it sharp, keep it human. Wishing Raveena Tandon ma’am a happy birthday in advance, I set the tone for a respectful, efficient exchange that let the audience meet the person behind the icon without drift.

The hall was reported to be more than twice the seating capacity, with men and women seated on the aisles and in front rows on the floor, hands folded, waiting for Ms Tandon. As a corporate emcee I moved quickly: establish cues with the AV team, confirm timing with security, and negotiate aisles so those on the floor could still see and hear without disruption.

On stage, proximity did the work. I opened with context from her career and the cultural moment, then linked to craft and current projects. One clean, audience-safe nod to her classic number had the room smiling; I said we might skip rain effects today and invite a rain of applause instead, and as an emcee host I used that beat to tighten transitions between questions while keeping cameras and crowd in sync.

We kept the spotlight on her voice. The JioTalks team’s clarity helped us hold the conversation to what the audience had come for. When questions rose from the back, I redirected to the mic points so everyone could hear, and the applause cadence told me we had the pacing right. This is where anchors for events make a difference: small choices that let attention stay on the guest while logistics stay invisible.
