Happy birthday, Sonu Nigam sir 🎉
There’s a very particular energy when you stand before 30,000 Reliance employees and their families, and somehow, your role is to match it. As anchor for the Reliance Corporate Family Day, I was entrusted not just to hold that space—but to scale it to the stature of the guest of honor, the legendary Mr. Sonu Nigam. The stage was set under the open skies of Reliance Corporate Park, but the energy came from the ground up—each face a testament to the pride and belonging this institution builds. An event emcee can sense when something larger is unfolding. That night, it was unmistakable.
Midway through Mr. Nigam’s performance, I was asked to shift gears and bring the crowd closer—literally and emotionally. We ran a real-time engagement where audiences, from top CXOs to toddlers in lap, were invited to echo the iconic hooks of his timeless songs. One beat, one breath, one voice. That moment wasn't planned in rehearsals—it emerged from instinct, trust, and the unspoken permission of a stage where presence matters. It’s in such spontaneous pivots that the work of a corporate emcee becomes strategy in action.
And yet, the detail that still stays with me wasn’t in the lights or sound. It was a gesture: Sonu Nigam placing a hand on his heart while the audience sang back to him without prompting. There was no mic on him in that instant, but 30,000 people could feel his acknowledgment. That’s when you know you’re not just holding a mic—you’re anchoring an atmosphere. It’s why being an anchor in mumbai at events of this scale carries institutional responsibility. It’s also why my team treats every engagement as a trust contract—not a show.
